Cavs championship recipe

The Cavs are looking more and more to have the components of a championship team. They story today is talking about the rotation, which at this time is thought to have more players than are necessary in a typical playoff game. They have the elder statesman in Ilgauskas, who’s been on the team since they were the worst team in the league. Now they have the enforcer in Ben Wallace, who job it is to police the game and keep people off Lebron James. The thing is the Pistons are probably the team that will be immune to Wallace’s intimidation. They played with him for years and they know his tactics. Likewise he won’t be intimidated by Detroit, but when Cleveland sees that Wallace can’t do against the Pistons what he can do against other teams as far as being the enforcer that could have an adverse effect.

Working in the Cavs favor against the Pistons is that they still have never seemed to regain that fire that fueled the team when they were a group of unknowns and the hardest working team in basketball. That work ethic and determination carried them to the championship in 2004. While their will remains strong when they need it, sometimes they wait too long before they decide to use it. That’s plagued them and had gotten worse. It’s an issue that has become an issue for championship teams.
